August 25, 2020
Overview
A multinational medical device company looked to Grantek for help improving their systems at one of their Canadian manufacturing facilities. This medical device company manufactures cartridges for its portable rapid blood analysis and diagnostic systems. Before engaging Grantek, the company was implementing a control system utilizing Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk Transaction Manager (FTTM), formerly known as RSSQL.
Challenges
Upon engaging the client, Grantek hosted collaborative calls and meetings understand the needs of the client, to determine the best solution, and to outline how a solution could be integrated to the operations and business needs of the client.
It was determined that the client’s engineers would develop the FTTM instance for the new line and Grantek would then deploy the solution, determine the server specification and application integration and help formulate a disaster recovery plan for the facility. It was also determined that Grantek would be available during commissioning of the new line as required.
Solutions
Grantek has extensive experience – via strong partnerships with other clients – developing, implementing and maintaining control and information systems in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry and has intimate knowledge of FTTM. Furthermore, Grantek is a Rockwell Automation Recognized System Integrator.
This expertise ensured Grantek had the knowledge, expertise and support required to achieve a successful implementation and start-up. This solution saw the client share existing standards documents and templates. Grantek delivered a final draft of a network architecture document for implementation. Grantek also provided server specifications and a guideline for outlining the best practices for FTTM.
