Brock Shares His Grantek Story

September 27, 2020

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Position: Systems Engineer

I come from a humble town in America’s Dairlyland, Wisconsin. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to venture out and make my mark on this world. That’s why during my final year at University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Bucky!), I searched far and wide for a company where I felt like I could make an impact on a large scale and be excited about the work I was doing. Then one day while sifting through LinkedIn for a golden organization, I stumbled upon Grantek. While obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, I took a handful of programming courses that I really enjoyed and the Systems Engineer role at Grantek seemed to be a great fit. I decided to give it a shot and applied. Next thing I know I am going through the interview process and the more I spoke to Grantekians, the more I knew this was the right choice. My interviewers explained the various opportunities that Grantek had to offer and how Grantek pushes you to grow into the role you want whether that be Project Management, Lead Engineering, Client Solutions, etc. The other striking feature about my conversations was just how genuine and kind each and every person I spoke to was. The company had to be doing something right with this many truly happy people working there. Accepting the position was one of the best career decisions I’ve made.

I have now been with Grantek for about a year and a half. I can tell you that they have exceeded my expectations. The range of work varies so much. On one project you could be extracting data off a cookie production line to improve efficiency. The next project you are designing user interfaces for a pharmaceutical company or developing a deep learning vision application to verify transdermal patch quality. I am constantly being challenged to learn new technology, all while having the opportunity to travel extensively to deliver our final product to the different manufacturing plants.

Due to being consistently challenged in my work, I am about quadruple the engineer now than when I first started. I give credit to my amazing mentors and the frequent opportunities to demonstrate leadership. Outside of my technical work, I am now directing customer meetings, writing training material, and planning project tasks with an associated schedule. By being placed in these types of leadership roles, you get to feel a sense of pride and ownership.

In addition to fulfilling work, the company atmosphere is incomparable. Everyone is very positive and willing to help you with any questions you have. This comes from having excellent leadership that exemplifies that type of culture.

I am very thankful to be working at Grantek. I hope some of the positive items from my journey resonate with you and give you an extra boost of enthusiasm to really explore how Grantek could be a match for you.

P.S. They are apparently great at helping you grow beards and not look like you’re 15, if that’s something you’re looking for.
