Overview
Grantek was approached by a Food & Beverage manufacturer with sites across North America. This company had worked with Grantek on earlier projects, and they were looking for help at one of their facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region. This client told Grantek that staffing for automation support was a challenge. The site had attrition in their maintenance team, and hiring a qualified individual proved to be a challenge. Without support, automation issues were not being solved quickly. The client realized these issues were leading to extended downtime and a loss in productivity. Since the customer had a history with Grantek for project work, so they reached out to see if Grantek would be able to provide a staffing support solution.

Challenges
When looking at a possible staffing support plan to help this client, Grantek began with a thorough review of the current production and staffing needs. This review was done in collaboration with the client. Grantek offered a flexible staffing plan to help cover gaps in shift coverage, including overnight, weekend and holiday support. Grantek also offered a remote support option. Both of these options directly addressed the needs of the client.

Solutions
Ultimately the client decided to go with Grantek’s onsite support option, as there were some older systems that were a challenge to support. Since Grantek can escalate to our entire design team of 200+ designers and engineers, we could connect the onsite person with someone within Grantek who has experience with these older/challenging systems. The Grantek team worked closely with the entire maintenance team (electricians, mechanics, etc.) at the client’s facility. Grantek has experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, so this put the solution in a great position to succeed. With this solution, Grantek was able to provide the support that they were looking for until they could hire internally. With hiring and staffing a costly and vital consideration for manufacturers, this solution from Grantek allowed the client to bridge this need until a qualified individual could be hired.
