May 7, 2021
Automation.com, a subsidiary of the International Society of Automation (ISA), has published an excellent new resource for the industrial IT community. The 2021 OT/ICS Cybersecurity eBook is filled with 50+ pages of insight and tips to secure manufacturing operations. Grantek’s Industrial IT and Cybersecurity Group contributed an article on cybersecurity strategies using MITRE ATT&CK’s framework for Industrial Control Systems. “Cybersecurity Using ICS ATT&CK Strategies“, features the expert perspective of Jacob Chapman, Director of Industrial IT & Cybersecurity at Grantek, and others on his team.
“Rather than relying on elaborate mathematical models or falling back on a guesstimate approach, ICS ATT&CK is a more practical approach. Some aspects of this include looking at localized data relevant to the specific environment. Risk assessment is more about prioritization than probability, so it is important to evaluate local attack vectors. It is also important to use facts and measurable data applicable to the facility’s configuration and assets to estimate business impact rather than guessing or generalizing.”
